Soeren AuerProf. Dr. Sören Auer (Co - Chair and Chair of the 1st EDF)

  

Sören Auer holds the chair for Enterprise Information Systems at University of Bonn and leads a research group at Fraunhofer Insitute for Analysis and Information Systems. He has made substantial contributions to social and semantic web technologies, knowledge engineering, usability, as well as databases and information systems.

Francesco BarbatoFrancesco Barbato (Representative of the Data Value Chain Unit)

  

Francesco Barbato holds a university degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Rome and he is specialized in earth observation systems, image processing and geospatial data management. He joined the European Commission in 2008 as Project Officer and is currently managing a portfolio of FP7 and CIP projects.

Malte Beyer-KatzenbergerMalte Beyer-Katzenberger (Representative of the Data Value Chain Unit)

  

Dr. Malte Beyer-Katzenberger studied law & political sciences at Trier and Aix-en-Provence universities and at the College of Europe, Bruges. In November 2011, he joined the European Commission, DG CONNECT (previously DG INFSO) and is responsible desk officer for activities around open data, including monitoring the implementation of the 2003 PSI Directive in Member States.

John DomingueProf. Dr. John Domingue (Chair of the 5th EDF)

  

Prof. John Domingue is the Director of the Knowledge Media Institute at The Open University and the President of STI International, a semantics focused networking organization with 50 members. He has published over 160 refereed articles in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and the Web and his current work is focused on how semantic technology can automate the management, development and use of Web services.

Dieter FenselProf. Dr. Dieter Fensel (Co - Chair and Chair of the 1st EDF)

  

Dieter Fensel is University Professor at the University of Innsbruck, where he directs the Semantic Technologies Institute Innsbruck (STI Innsbruck), a research center associated with the university. His current research interests focus upon the usage of semantics in 21st century computer science.

Martin Kaltenböck studied communication, psychology and marketing at the University of Vienna. He is managing partner of the Semantic Web Company and as CFO responsible for financial and organisational issues.

Manolis KoubarakisManolis Koubarakis (Chair of the 3rd EDF)

  

Manolis Koubarakis is a Professor in the Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has published more than 140 papers that have been widely cited in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (especially Knowledge Representation), Databases, Semantic Web and Linked Data. His research has been financially supported by the European Commission, the Greek General Secretariat for Research and Technology (more recently through a prestigious Research Excellence Grant), the European Space Agency and industry sources.

Stefanie Lindstaedt is a managing director of Know-Center GmbH, head of Knowledge Technologies Institute (KTI), Graz University of Technology (TUG), president of Platform for Digital networked Data (DnD).

Márta Nagy-RothengassMárta Nagy-Rothengass (Founder of the EDF series)

  

Márta Nagy-Rothengass is in charge of the Data Value Chain Unit and builds up on a strategy to extract the maximum value from data by building on the intelligent use of data sources across the European Union and beyond.

Elena SimperlDr. Elena Simperl  (Chair of the 2nd EDF)

  

Elena Simperl holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Free University of Berlin and a Diploma in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich.

Her primary domain of research is semantic technologies. She currently works as a senior lecturer at the Web and Internet Science group at the University of Southampton.
